I always think conor was saddest or at least drunkest during the digital ash tour.. and I’m happy that he seems so much happier now.. in my non-expert opinion.
story from digital ash tour from internet’s past:
Bright Eyes were strange. I mean, I love them, but Conor was fucked up as hell. I guess, it was already bad on the Wide Awake tour, but this time it was worse….After the show my friend and me went backstage and we met him. He looked at us but at the same time he looked through us. He couldn’t say quite anything that would make sense. After our meeting some guy of his crew helped him with walking and said to us: ”Alright girls, Conor is going to bed now. Goodnight everyone.” Before that my friend said to Conor : ”I hope, you’ll have a good night, thx for talking to us. And remember, when you’re feeling bad ‘cause you’re drunk, it can only get better.” And he answered with the most saddest sentence, I’ve ever heard of him: ”No, it’s not being drunk, it’s just……life.”

"When you write a song, the goal is not to convey the details of your life. You should write a memoir or something if that’s what you’re going to do. The idea is to get to a truth that is apart from the person who created it, something that anyone can look at and find something that resonates as being true – not true in the factual sense, but true in the more universal sense, a truth that you can see."
